Will Acts of Terrorism A Century From Now Be Viewed with Horror?

Even though I didn’t know anyone who died in the recent bombings, these events evoked, in me, a sadness grounded in the sentimental notion that all people are brothers and sisters, divinely created.

But when I consider all of the reproductive and genetic technologies currently used and those which are purportedly imminent, I wonder if, a few decades hence, I’ll feel the same sense of linkage to office workers who are the products of manufacture, quality control and design.  As humans continue to control and rationalize the creation of life, will acts of immense violence feel like mass murder or, more rationally, like extreme vandalism?
