Should Attempts at Human Cloning Shock Anyone?

Why should cloning shock anyone?  By donning the leather jacket of reproductive choice, we have opened the door to many forms of repugnant technology.   Is cloning any creepier than sperm or egg donations/sales?  Is the idea of mass producing and manufacturing humans through cloning much different than the production, freezing and destruction (or sale, for parts) of multiple embryos during in vitro fertilization?   Are the deformities likely to be caused by cloning-- which can be dealt with through abortion-- any more violent than a standard abortion?

We’ve crossed the reproductive Rubicon.   But, in doing so, did anyone consider what kind of world this will be in which to grow up?
